Work closely with senior management to execute current strategic initiatives and formulate new growth opportunities for GDI;Develop internal and external facing presentation materials for key stakeholders;Prepare strategic market analyses to identify potential areas of future growth across TV, film and new digital businesses related to media. Includes preparation of corporate profiles, strategic market analyses, updates on ongoing market trends and M&A activity;Identify trends in a fast-evolving digital market and recommend a coherent point of view on areas for NBCU to explore from an entrepreneurial/innovation perspective;Assist SVP, Business Development, in partnering with regional hub leaders and regionally aligned BD teams to support local BD initiatives including potential work streams related to Comcast’s recent acquisition of Sky;Assist SVP, Business Development, in partnering with Comcast Corporate Development and NBCU NY-based Business Development teams to drive international expansion of NBCU businesses;Mentor and train more junior level employees within our LA BD team from both industry and analytical perspectives.
The Global Distribution & International Business Development team works closely with our global business unit leaders and senior management to facilitate decision making through rigorous strategic and financial analysis. Driving projects from concept stage to conclusion, the team contributes directly to the realization of operational excellence across our diverse businesses, as well as the development and implementation of NBCU’s International’s growth strategy.
We are looking for a strong candidate for the position of VP, Business Development. This position will contribute to and in many cases manage strategic planning and business development activities for GDI. These activities will include research, analysis, modeling, and recommendations related to emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, M&A as well as internal business performance improvement.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic planning, management consulting, business development, or investment banking, ideally in the entertainment or media technology industries
• Requires superior strategic, financial, and relationship building skills
• Demonstrable experience working on M&A transactions
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including significant financial modeling experience
• Ability to handle and oversee multiple tasks under tight deadlines
• Strategic mindset with understanding of the media business and the evolution in digital distribution
• Experience executing transactions with new digital businesses related to media
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author and deliver presentations to senior management
• Strong team player with interpersonal skills enabling easy integration into a fast moving, hard- working team
• Fun and lively personality with the proven ability to interact successfully in multi-cultural environment and with executives at both senior and more junior levels
• MBA from a top tier business school
