- Full Time
Business.com, one of the nation’s leading small business media companies, is looking for a talented writer to join our team of business products and services reviewers in the New York office. Our ideal candidate will have a strong writing background (in any field) and likes to learn new things all the time. (You really do like to learn new things!) This writer will work with the BusinessNewsDaily and Business.com editorial teams to create well researched reviews and buying guides that can take a month or more to research, test and write. This person will also be writing reported features and business profiles, while juggling other responsibilities.
We don’t care how much work experience you’ve had, but this is definitely an early career position and will pay accordingly (though we are open to moderately seasoned writers who are looking for a change of career). Knowledge in business areas is a plus.
These roles require reporters who can think like a detective, an entrepreneur and a guidance counselor. That’s because our readers rely on us to help them start and grow their businesses and make important buying decisions. Most importantly, you can put yourself in the shoes of our readers and imagine what you would want to know if you were starting or growing your own business. You are open to new ideas and can change course as our needs shift. You won’t be offended if your work is heavily edited or sent back for multiple revisions. You also must be comfortable working “undercover” by calling businesses as if you were a small business owner, and acting as a newspaper reporter who gets to the right sources to get unique information.
In addition to a resume and cover letter, write us a short (three to four paragraph) review of a product you already own. It could be anything – your razor, your phone, your kid’s car seat. Just give us a chance to see how you write. Send cover letter, resume and product review via the link provided.
