- Full Time
You watch the Super Bowl as much for the ads as for the game. And there’s a good chance you’ve binge-watched Mad Men.
You’re a team player with excellent communication, writing, and editing skills. This includes the ability to transform industry news, strategies, and trends into unique, compelling stories, as well as proficiency in writing captivating heads and leads. You’re also curious — continually learning about your beats so you can find new angles and write unexpected and exclusive content. You enjoy getting out the market and building relationships with key players and are comfortable asking tough questions. You consider yourself to be highly organized and detail-oriented, able to multitask effectively and consistently meet deadlines — effectively balancing writing and editing responsibilities — and have superb follow through.
As a reporter with The Drum, you’ll be responsible primarily for writing news, as well as some features. Additionally, like all editorial staffers, you’ll assist with editing and proofreading as necessary, interacting with readers on social channels, and covering industry conferences. The position reports directly to the US editor.
All candidates should have experience writing and editing reported news (i.e., original reporting with interviews), not just blogs or opinion pieces. Knowledge of the advertising and marketing industry, and related business and technology issues, is preferred but not required.
