You watch the Super Bowl as much for the ads as for the game. And there’s a good chance you’ve binge-watched Mad Men.

You’re a team player with excellent communication, writing, and editing skills. This includes the ability to transform industry news, strategies, and trends into unique, compelling stories, as well as proficiency in writing captivating heads and leads. You’re also curious — continually learning about your beats so you can find new angles and write unexpected and exclusive content. You enjoy getting out the market and building relationships with key players and are comfortable asking tough questions. You consider yourself to be highly organized and detail-oriented, able to multitask effectively and consistently meet deadlines — effectively balancing writing and editing responsibilities — and have superb follow through.

As a reporter with The Drum, you’ll be responsible primarily for writing news, as well as some features. Additionally, like all editorial staffers, you’ll assist with editing and proofreading as necessary, interacting with readers on social channels, and covering industry conferences. The position reports directly to the US editor.

All candidates should have experience writing and editing reported news (i.e., original reporting with interviews), not just blogs or opinion pieces. Knowledge of the advertising and marketing industry, and related business and technology issues, is preferred but not required.

The Drum is founded on the belief that marketing can change the world. It's a fast-growing and disruptive global media and events business serving a vibrant and creative B2B ecosystem. Our clients and partners are the biggest brands, agencies, media owners, and tech suppliers in the industry including Adobe, Apple, Amazon, Dentsu Aegis, Facebook, Google, HP, IBM, NewsCorp, Microsoft, and WPP.

In addition to our world-leading website we provide 27 award shows, dozens of live events, complete content marketing solutions, video production, research, peer-to-peer learning, professional development, and supplier finder services.

The Drum is an award-winning team of about 100 with influence across millions of relevant people in the marketing world. And with bases in London, Glasgow, New York, and Singapore we are  at an exciting stage in our global expansion to create the first worldwide marketplace for marketers.

Include a cover letter with your resume explaining why you're applying to this job specifically.
