Accountable for and serves as the authority on all aspects of experience design. Recognized as subject matter expert on a portfolio of experience designs. Leads cross-functional teams by example demonstrating passion and drive to satisfy customer needs and optimize experience. Synthesizes information to determine both current and future (years in advance) customer needs.  Budget decisions; commits resources to address/balance customer needs. Operates with complete latitude within operational parameters. Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top level technical and operational staff and executive leadership on ideas and solutions that impact industry and/or corporate results. May be responsible for design roadmap requiring multiple year plans. Develops, or provides guidance to develop, innovative solutions to highly complex and/or emerging technologies. Champions, provides influence and leadership to cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders on ideas and solutions that impact industry and/or corporate results. Typically manages team of Sr. Mgrs and Managers; Provides mentorship and guidance to team member and associates.


Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions


• Accountable for the completion of user experience projects and achievement of business objectives through planning, budgeting, resourcing, and monitoring accuracy of work, etc.  Ensures success through adequate resourcing of initiatives.  

• Manage and review allocated budgets and actual spend for user experience activities and make adjustments to budgets and forecasts as necessary for success.

• Serves as champion for design initiatives to obtain necessary cross-functional support and sponsorship. Directly and indirectly influences others to garner needed resources and support.  

• Be the face of the department – taking briefs from internal clients and being a trusted advisor to them.

• Cast projects to the appropriate team members with the help of our creative services scheduler.

• Responsible for Studio budgeting, recruitment and planning. Development and maintaining of vendor relationships, facilitating contract negotiations, setting up engagements and paying invoices.

• Provides leadership, development, mentorship and Business &/or Consumer insights to UX and management team(s).  Typically manages a team of designers and copywriters.

• Identify consumer expectations and unmet needs with product and services to innovate and create solutions that address gaps and enhance customer experience.  Directs product features from ideation through deployment.

• Analyze customer, business and product performance metrics and interpret underlying drivers to translate into data-based recommendations.

• Translate vision into clear and defined design requirements to drive functional specifications and technical requirements.

• Reviews and finalizes documented product vision to ensure alignment with consumer needs, market and competitive trends and corporate strategy.

• Directs and develops the strategy of user experience efforts; translates strategy into user experience objectives.

• Provides oversight in the development of user experience framework(s) that define the product value proposition to support product and services roadmap investments.

• Direct the prioritization of product improvements and necessary resources across the product portfolio to optimize user experience and strengthen organizational objectives.

• Facilitates communication amongst relevant stakeholders to maintain alignment and awareness of current state of the experience and vision.  

• Directs the optimization of operational practices and procedures to drive efficiencies for the group across different efforts. 

• Monitors developments within the industry, vendor community and technology trends and considers these in light of product roadmaps. Serves as Cox representative and spokesperson at industry events.  

• Is consulted by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on his/her interpretations and advice with the ability to model and influence necessary changes within the organization.

• Provides recommendations to management regarding facilities, personnel, and funds required to carry out product programs that are directly related with and directed towards fulfillment of overall organizational objectives.



Qualifications:Minimum 

• 10 or more years of experience required in related field (e.g. User Experience, User Experience Research & Analytics etc.)

• 5 or more years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree

• Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization.

• Demonstrate strong technical and market knowledge.


Preferred

• BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (e.g. Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, arts etc.)

• 5 or more years of experience in a management role preferred

• Experience in telecommunications, e-commerce or high-tech environment
