The Project Manager role has two principal areas of responsibility:
1. Project Manager for specific Project(s):
The Project Manager role is equally responsible for independently leading all day to day activities of small to mid-sized project(s) within the overall portfolio of the assigned business or technology domain. The Project Manager works with the product owner(s), scrum team(s) and technology teams in translating the product vision into a workable project plan within the overall agile process. This Project Manager is then responsible for leading the planning, monitoring, execution, and successful completion of their projects– on scope, budget, and schedule and meeting all project metrics for quality. The Project Manager will manage the expectations of all stakeholders, including customer, through transparent and proactive communications. The Project Manager will be responsible leading the creation of project related deliverables, such as:• Plan of Record (update)• Project Proposals (create/co-author)• Project Management Plan (owner)• Resource Plans (update)• Project Status Reports (owner)• Issue / Risk / Assumptions / Action Item / Decisions Log (owner) (IRAAD)• Project Debriefs/Retrospective (owner)This position is expected to apply industry best practices to drive initiative/project success. The Project Manager will collaborate with all teams in developing project plans, gathering project status efficiently by “walking around” and will lead forward looking, action oriented status meetings. The Project Manager will manage the expectations of internal and external stakeholders through transparent and proactive status reporting, ongoing planning, stakeholder meetings and Interlock discussions, and other communications.
2. Facilitate and Assist in Release Train / Program Management team deliverables:
The Project Manager is responsible to assist and facilitate the deliverables for the Release Train or Program Management team(s), partnering and co-owning some of the duties of RTE (Release Train Engineer) such as:
- Facilitate and Assist Release Train / Program Status updates
- Assist in tracking features/projects within the assigned Release Train / Program
- Facilitate and Assist Release Train / Program reporting and metrics
- Facilitate and Assist Quarterly planning for the assigned Release Train / Program
- Facilitate and Assist Escalations and Track impediments
- Facilitate assist risk and dependency management
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to help with continuous improvements
- Facilitate and Assist budget / cost planning and tracking
Facilitates the ongoing creation
of Business Cases and Project Proposals/Briefs for the program ensuring
projects are evaluated, approved, queued and executed in priority order within
Facilitates tracks and reports
on key program metrics and details providing the visibility and transparency
needed for proactively decision making by the Business Sponsor via aggregated
information relating details like to delivery timelines, budgets and key risks.
Facilitates regular program
status meetings to ensure business sponsors and other key stakeholders share a
common short and longer-term program perspective.
Works with Business Sponsor, Release
Train management team and Technical Lead to initiate new projects/initiatives
by creating briefs/business cases to be evaluated, approved and properly
scheduled supporting the ongoing maintenance of quarterly plans.
Leads & Facilitate all aspects of the project management process
e.g. quarterly planning, leading project status meetings and supporting scrum
team, supporting backlog management, tracking team progress and ownership of
o Monitors and
controls projects by managing
project milestones, scope, budget, issues and risks ensuring appropriate corrective
actions and interventions are enacted in a timely manner working
collaboratively with the business sponsor, release trains and scrum teams.
o Develops, facilitate
and implements communication strategies and plans to ensure status, activities,
accomplishments, issues, and risks are communicated.
Servant Leadership (10%)
o Trains and mentors team members on the Dealertrack’s
leading practice implementation and continuous improvement.
o Provides process leadership, direction, and
support to project/scrum teams by reviewing deliverables prepared by the team, identifying
opportunities for improvement, contributing to the continuous improvement of best
practices and providing thought leadership to the PPM processes.
Bachelors Degree and Project Management Certification(s) or equivalent
5-7 yrs experience in project management
capacity, including agile process
Demonstrates the following competencies:

clients, and other departments using expertise as a facilitator maintaining a 6
plus week focus and perspective for the Team.

processes are necessary to achieve optimal results. Produces an audit trail
through their projects.
- Business Knowledge. Good
understanding of Agile standards. Easily aligns project/programs to stakeholder
goals. Intermediate plus experience working with Microsoft Project, SharePoint,
JIRA or similar.
