Senior Associate, PBS KIDS Digital Content

The Senior Associate supports and contributes to the content development and production of PBS KIDS digital content and ensures that content supports the overall PBS KIDS strategy and goals across platforms.


Essential duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Manage scheduling, content pipeline and curation of PBS KIDS content across PBSKIDS.org, the PBS KIDS Games App and other digital products to support key programming and promotional priorities.
  • Oversee creation, production and launch of PBS KIDS promotional events on PBSKIDS.org, Games App and other products/platforms.
  • Manage and grow the PBS KIDS Play Testing program. Manage relationships with partner schools, schedule Pre-K and early elementary play testing sessions, create testing protocols and provide summary findings to content managers as well as present key findings to internal teams on a quarterly/as- needed basis.  
  • Facilitate relationship with Quality Assurance vendors including delivery of test plans, scheduling and serve as a liaison between vendor and internal teams.
  • Serve as key point of contact with other departments (PBS KIDS Marketing, PBS Parents and PBS KIDS Programming) in support of key programming and promotional priorities.
  • Oversee app store submissions and support and contribute to the development of app store marketing materials including the organization of mobile assets and meta-data, responding to app store reviews.
  • Inform and contribute to digital production policies and documentation and update documentation platforms accordingly.
  • Research and report on latest mobile trends and emerging technologies and platforms.
  • Serve as integral member of PBS KIDS Digital team, participating in group projects and discussions, and contribution to overall vision and strategy for PBS KIDS.
  • Represent PBS KIDS at local events or schools, helping showcase our content.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for success:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in: Media production, Communications, Education, or related field; or equivalent work experience in digital content production.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in digital publishing or media production or in equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience developing educational products for children ages 2-8 or mobile product development.
  • Experience working with teams of creative and technical people.
  • Product development experience within children’s media preferred.
  • Experience or strong interest in early childhood development and education is desired.
  • Ability to review and work with database content and administrative interfaces/CMS systems and analytic tools.
  • Excellent communication skills including writing and editing copy.
  • Working knowledge of web development technologies and is a self-professed mobile geek.
  • Understanding and appreciation for the convergence of linear programming and interactive content.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibe team player.
  • Working knowledge of basic user interface design, typography and image placement.
  • Superior organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong listening and presentation skills, including the ability to manage production critiques.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to take charge/lead without day-to-day supervision.
  • Ability to plan, problem solve and prioritize several assignments at one time.
  • Resourceful and self-directed.
  • A strategic thinker who can meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Project management skills and experience.
