Meteorologist/Reporter

 

KCPQ-TV, the FOX affiliate in Seattle is looking for a skilled meteorologist/reporter to join our experienced team. We are looking for someone who can present clear and easy to understand forecasts, at least three years of on-air experience in a major market. A degree in broadcast meteorology or related sciences is required, and a seal is preferred. The ideal candidate will also have experience in reporting, writing and an understanding of connecting with audiences on multiple platforms.  We're looking for someone with sharp news and weather judgment, strong writing and excellent storytelling skills, and the ability to work well with others

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Produce and present weather information that helps our audience plan their day
  • Deliver weather news in a clear and concise manner that meets the station’s integrity standards
  • Develop and present content and graphics for on-air and digital platforms
  • Response to breaking/sever weather events as required
  • Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations
  • Make public appearances on behalf of the station
  • Writes web stories detailing the local forecast on a daily basis.
  • Reports on news stories in a way that is memorable and compelling
  • Reporting responsibilities include pitching story ideas, developing contacts and reporting
  • Other duties as assigned.
