Role Summary

Responsible for corporate level business development which includes the strategic product planning, portfolio management, and corporate development processes, as well as partnerships and investment management with a Consultative mindset and opportunity for innovation.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Provides leadership through facilitating and developing Cox's strategic plan and portfolio management process.
• Participates in identifying, evaluating, and negotiating acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and start-ups in support of Cox's portfolio of products, services and intellectual property.
• Manages the assessment and valuation of new business opportunities and potential threats to sustainability of current business plans.
• May direct a function without direct reports but provide oversight to a special group/project/vendor/external resources.
• Works with industry peers, partners, suppliers, and key organizations, etc. to understand, influence, and communicate trends and requirements in our products and services.
• Discovers and investigates emerging technologies and services for fit and value creation within the Cox portfolio.
• Represents Cox as an external business leader, advocate and negotiator on specific issues in industry, interindustry and ad hoc working groups and alliances, trade association, public policies and standards committees to promote and implement Cox's positions.
• May contribute to both long-term and short-term plans and projects Decision-Making Authority
• Drives evaluation, consensus-building, decision-making and implementation of Cox's strategies on specific industry issues, policies, emerging technologies, platform and convergence decisions, intellectual property rights and special projects.
• Works closely with a cross-functional team including the field, finance, legal, engineering, marketing, operations, IT, and others to develop a consensus around and support for the strategy.
• Expected to travel approximately 40% of the time

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• 7 or more years of experience required in related field (e.g. Business Administration or Legal.)
• 5 or more years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree (e.g. MBA)
• Strong skills in the Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; as well as Project Management tools and software.
• Strong research and analytical capabilites
• Skilled at business planning and forecasting
• Demonstrates a sales disposition, strong customer focus and ethics, and is an avid inquisitive learner
• Communiates effectively with Executives, internal and external partners, vendors and entities
• An excellent collaborator who works effectively with teams throughout the organization as well as with external industry partners, vendors, and business entities

Preferred

• BS/BA degree in related discipline desired (e.g. Business Administration or Legal.)
• MA/MBA in related discipline strongly desired
• 2 or more years of experience in a management role or leading cross functional projects
• Prior consulting experience
• Knowledge of procurement processes and experience using automated procurement tools such as Oracle iProcuement / ZeroChaos or similar tool
