The Chronicle of Higher Education is seeking an experienced, enterprising reporter to produce high-impact investigative journalism that holds powerful people accountable.

We are looking for a creative and tenacious reporter who has a track record of developing deep sourcing, mining data, and using freedom-of-information laws to probe how colleges act as stewards of their students and the public trust. This reporter will ask and answer pointed questions about high-level decision-making, the influence of money and power, and issues of ethics and integrity across a sector that is vital to the nation’s economy and culture.

The right candidate has at least three years of experience and is a natural storyteller who can write with authority and generate distinctive story ideas, framed for a national audience. You’ll need to be self-motivated and proactive, eager to collaborate with others, and able to drive conversations about the big issues facing higher education.

The Chronicle is independently owned and based in Washington, D.C. Our pay is commensurate with experience, and our benefits are among the best in the business.

If this sounds like the place you want to make your mark, send a cover letter, resume, and five clips via the link provided.
