The Chronicle of Higher Education is seeking an experienced, enterprising reporter to produce high-impact investigative journalism that holds powerful people accountable.
We are looking for a creative and tenacious reporter who has a track record of developing deep sourcing, mining data, and using freedom-of-information laws to probe how colleges act as stewards of their students and the public trust. This reporter will ask and answer pointed questions about high-level decision-making, the influence of money and power, and issues of ethics and integrity across a sector that is vital to the nation’s economy and culture.
The right candidate has at least three years of experience and is a natural storyteller who can write with authority and generate distinctive story ideas, framed for a national audience. You’ll need to be self-motivated and proactive, eager to collaborate with others, and able to drive conversations about the big issues facing higher education.
