Description: A small, nonprofit think tank in Washington, DC seeks a creative Graphic Designer on a contract basis (approximately 10-12 hours per week), with potential growth into a part-time position. He/she should have experience in both print and electronic media and be able to translate written and verbal ideas into images, layouts, templates, and other designs in line with MEI's current branding and vision. A successful candidate should be comfortable working independently as well as on project teams as the only designer and should be able to articulate and execute a strong artistic vision based on team input. He/she should be based in DC or available to be in DC for in-person meetings regularly. When applying, please provide samples of previous design work and be prepared to provide references upon request.   Responsibilities: Create innovative visual aspects of digital and print marketing materials, proposals, publications, and other types of media, including infographics Design templates for proposals and publications based on existing branding guidelines Manage projects for multiple departments concurrently Advise on best practices and optimizations Present designs and implement feedback when appropriate   Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, design, or art preferred (extensive experience in the field may also be acceptable)

A minimum of 2-5 years related professional experience
Proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, particularly with layout templates Skills demonstrated by a strong design portfolio Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail Interest in foreign policy and arts and culture preferred
