The NBC News Archive Sales team is seeking a Business Development Associate. The Business Development Associate is responsible for developing assigned client bases and working with other sales staff on assigned client projects. In addition to working on the development of assigned territories/clients, s(he) will be managing client accounts including performing research, preparing screeners and processing master orders through to completion with the highest degree of customer service.

This role requires clear and concise communication with both clients and internal resources to guarantee seamless delivery of services and content. Multi-tasking and time management are critical, as the Business Development Associate must organize and prioritize a wide variety of tasks to ensure excellent client service. The Business Development Associate is a problem-solver with a “can do” and friendly attitude in meeting client requests and deadlines.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Manage the sales cycle from initial conversation with client to final delivery of content and invoicing.
  • Understanding of NBC News Archive Sales content, rights and clearances, and service in order to effectively communicate all offerings to the client.
  • Research targeted markets & clients to develop and pursue business development opportunities.
  • Liaise with the Research, Rights and Clearances and Operations teams and other internal teams regarding clients’ requests.
  • Maintain and “own” CRM records so the data is useful for both client interaction and future business development data.
  • Ensure that all aspects of customer account financials are accurate and up to date. Liaise with clients and Finance on account and billing issues
  • Track sales forecasts and update actuals and project status on an on-going basis.
  • Prepare client screeners and master orders for clients to fulfil research orders.
  • Review NBC materials for restrictions and 3rd party copyright to ensure content is available for licensing.
  • Keep accurate records of all research undertaken, clearance/copyright checks, material selected/rejected/uploaded, topic categories, duration, etc.
  • Participate in proactive research and other assigned projects as needed including sales outreach and marketing efforts.


  • Qualifications:
    • 2+ years of relevant work experience please
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university required.

    •Knowledge of footage industry and existing client based preferred.
    • Driven, highly motivated person who can take the lead on projects and see them through completion.
    • Team player who strives to provide unparalleled customer service.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills (incl. Excel, Powerpoint, CRM, etc.).
    • Strong knowledge and interest in popular culture, history, US & world news, geography, etc. Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Detail oriented with ability to maintain accurate records.
