The Technical Director position encompasses all aspects of video switching for live production, from equipment configuration to effect execution. The primary job focus will be to incorporate a variety of video sources into live productions and oversee all aspects of video quality. They are also responsible for program chain, signal flow, distribution to studio displays, and configuring multiverse. The Technical Director will work closely with Show Directors to execute the technical vision of the production. Responsibilities: Switching live and live to tape productions.
Responsible for overall technical operation of Production Control Room.
Collaborate with show Director and Associate Director to achieve technical vision
Runs pre-show fax of video sources, destinations, and program chain
Switch all elements (cameras, Live shots, graphics, clips, server, routable sources, etc.) cleanly, for live on-air broadcasts upon instruction from show director.
Set up and operate the switcher, spot servers, router panels, and Multiview displays.
Report any equipment maintenance issues following all shows to Tech Manager
Create & maintain effects for the switcher and manage media for spot servers and frame stores
Lend creative and technical input when necessary to enhance production values
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Experience as Technical Director for live broadcasts at a network level
Experience as working on large format video switcher (Sony preferred)
Experience with machine control utilizing IP, VDCP, PBUS, and GPI triggers
Ability to build macros, timelines, effects, snapshots, and router salvos
Strategic thinker capable of acting as a technical lead during productions
Good communication, teamwork and collaboration skills
Strong work ethic, positive attitude and leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks
Ability to work in fast paced, high pressure environment
Willing to work flexible hours including holidays, nights, and weekends
