KCPQ-TV, the Tribune owned FOX affiliate in Seattle WA is accepting applications for an Associate Producer to join our top-rated news team.  The Associate Producer is responsible for assisting newscast producers with their shows by producing up segments, writing stories and pitching/executing original, local story ideas.  The right candidate will have newsroom experience, a passion for news, be able to handle breaking news, is a strong writer and has excellent news judgment. We are looking for a positive team player who understands how to produce content for our viewers and is skilled at connecting with audiences on all platforms.   • Write and provide news content for air
  • Collaborate with Producers, Executive Producers, Editors and the assignment desk to develop news stories
  • Research, produce and execute segments in our newscasts, taking ownership of these segments for the news producers.
  • Learn to fill-in produce newscasts in all dayparts and be able to fill in produce assigned shows
  • Evaluate local, state and national/international stories using websites, Twitter, FOX/CNN/Tribune news services and wires
  • Contributes daily to our digital platforms
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism preferred; equivalent experience required
  • 1-2 years of newsroom experience
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, holidays and/or weekends
  • Must be able to work well under deadline pressure
  • Must exhibit solid news judgment
  • Must be accurate and consistent in writing ability
  • Must be proactive and work well in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
