NBC Out is NBC News Digital’s destination for content about and of interest to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. We are looking for a Reporter to join our team.
The NBC Out Reporter will be an integral part of the daily creation and promotion of NBC Out content. Along with reporting news/feature stories and managing NBC Out’s social media accounts, the NBC Out Reporter will keep track of trending topics, pitch story ideas and assist in any events or daily planning activities. The NBC Out Reporter will report to the NBC Out Editorial Manager.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is hungry to break news, and able to pitch and report stories that are original, sharp and distinct. The ability to write focused, engaging stories on tight deadline is a must, along with the ability to write long form stories with voice and style. We are looking for a reporter who is looking to do high quality journalism that resonates beyond the day’s news. Fluency in SEO, social-media and basic analytics is required.
• 4+ years of related professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for LGBTQ issues
• Strong written and communication skills
• Experience writing in AP style
• Excellent knowledge of all major social media platforms
• Passion for news, politics and pop culture
• Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments while on deadline
• Strong organizational skills and solid work ethic
• Ability to take direction well and provide self-direction
• Excellent interpersonal skills
