Role Purpose
The Multicultural Marketing team is part of the marketing department of Universal Pictures. The team is responsible for engaging across all disciplines of film marketing to identify, refine, develop and integrate strategies and tactics to enhance and enrich outreach to Hispanic, African-American and APA audiences domestically. The position reports to the SVP, Multicultural Marketing.

The Director, Multicultural Creative Advertising will oversee the strategic development and execution of creative advertising campaigns for each of our theatrical releases across media types like Television, Digital, Social, and Radio that specifically target the multicultural consumer. In addition, they will provide leadership and execution management across non-traditional creative content including Hispanic media promotions, and Symphony elements executed with Hispanic partners within the NBCUniversal Corporation. The Director must possess a strong entrepreneurial drive to innovate within the multicultural creative landscape, a willingness to collaborate with various teams within Universal’s marketing department, and a true desire to contribute to a unique, award-winning team.

  • Define and develop multicultural content and strategy in collaboration with SVP, Multicultural Marketing as it pertains to Creative Advertising, Spanish-Language Media Promotions and Hispanic Symphony content.
  • Lead the development/production process of Spanish-language advertising to include but not be limited to new spot creation, translations and adaptations for linear and digital media.
  • Interface with senior management, filmmakers, editorial and advertising agencies as well as Universal marketing departments that touch creative content targeting multicultural audiences to ensure all creative output is current, collaborative and on-strategy.
  • Manage direction of voiceover talent, translation of copy, creative vendor selection, creative development budgeting, and post-production finishing as needed, including ordering, guiding and approving work.
  • Participate in, understand and apply the findings of market research and testing to developed content.
  • Collaborate with Director, Multicultural Media and Universal’s Integrated Marketing department to properly leverage owed network media promotion opportunities across major Hispanic networks.
  • Help execute cross-company Spanish-language Symphony efforts for both television and digital media including toolkit adaptation, in-show integrations, and custom material development (network promos, social content, etc.)
  • Provide content for filmmaker communication and messaging of campaign details.
  • Retain a robust understanding of Hispanic media outlets as well as effective multicultural best practices to ensure proper representation of our films.

  • Basic Qualifications
    •Minimum of 7 years of marketing experience.
    •Strong experience in developing multicultural marketing content
    •Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) required
    •Fluency in creative advertising is necessary, including but not limited to a deep understanding of creative development/editing process, vendors and capabilities in the industry, and post-production finishing process. Theatrical marketing creative campaign experience a plus.
    •Working knowledge of Microsoft-based software: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
