POSITION SUMMARY: Content producers for are
responsible for content that drives audience growth above and beyond what our
newsroom typically generates and for digital advertising revenue growth.









  • 50
    percent content creation through original reporting, aggregation, and curation


  • 25
    percent optimization of existing content for revenue enhancements, through
    tagging, video creation, SEO optimization, and other tactics


  • 25
    percent home page management, social promotion and other tasks to support












  • Monitors
    websites for content that will drive audience and in specific revenue verticals


  • May
    be required handle 10-30 items of content per day, depending on level of


  • Builds
    or tags content to appropriate lists for publication on


  • Takes
    simple photos or video and edits work in appropriate programs


  • Aggregates


  • Writes
    annotations and headlines on aggregated content


  • Writes
    original content as needed


  • Puts
    out calls for user generated content and aggregates/publishes content from that


  • Creates photo galleries
  • Creates memes, GIFs from photographs and videos
  • Creates data visualizations
  • Creates maps and simple interactives
  • Writes/rewrites web headlines
  • Researches/sources content from outside sources where
  • Manages, approves and edits/rewrites content from
    outside sources
  • Promotes content to ensure content hits audience
    targets required for revenue
  • Measures and is accountable for revenue targets and
    visit targets for content he or she has created







  • Bachelor’s
    degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, advertising,
    social media or related media field









  • 3+
    years of experience creating content for a business-to-consumer website


  • Established
    social media presence on various platforms. Interest particularly in Twitter,
    Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit, Vine, Google+. (Candidates should
    supply handles for verification.)


  • Experience
    with Site Catalyst preferred


  • Photoshop
    skills preferred
















  • Information
    sources and subjects


  • Freelancers,
    bloggers, content creators at other websites


  • Communities
    on social media


  • Advertisers













  • Advertising
    sales staff
