PMC:  Director of Public Relations

Penske Media Corporation (PMC) is hiring a dynamic publicity professional to join their growing team as Director of Public Relations. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the media strategy and PR outreach across print, digital and events for our iconic brands Rolling Stone, Robb Report and SHE Media as well as our rapidly growing media company PMC.

Based out of our New York office and reporting to PMC’s Vice President of Corporate Communications and HR, this individual will partner with senior leaders to develop the overall publicity and communications strategies for select PMC media brands, serving as primary press contact. This talented communicator must have a creative and strategic mind for spring-boarding leading journalists, content and events into various media channels. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute all public relations strategies for Rolling Stone, Robb Report and SHE Media as well as occasionally advise on strategies for other brands in the portfolio.
  • Ensure all media outreach maintains brands' integrity, style, tone, voice, and mission.
  • As the owner of the day-to-day PR function, work with brands’ sales, live media and marketing teams as well as editorial to lead media relations strategy and tactics.
  • Conceptualize and develop written materials, including press releases, statements, briefing materials, pitch letters, professional bios and other communications.
  • Build on existing relationships with key industry reporters and influencers to help communicate each brand’s unique positioning.
  • Lead the teams’ proactive and reactive media relations strategy and story management across several growing verticals, both in domestic and international markets.

Key Skills/Background:

  • 6+ years in a public relations, communications, or publicity function.
  • Sharp and effective communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while working independently.
  • Ability to proactively identify communications opportunities and develop supporting programs.
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and able to take a positive team approach.
  • Proven experience securing media coverage in print, online, and broadcast for products, content, thought-leaders, or company news.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or English.
