Technical Project Manager
Owned Stations & Affiliate Relations
  • Broadcast and IT System Design
  • Develop Budget Proposals.
  • Verify Vendor quotes to meet the scope of the project
  • Power load calculations for racks
  • Manage Electricians, HVAC and Facilities Engineers to ensure their tasks relating to the project are completed on-time and on-budget
  • Ability to use and correctly process purchase requisitions in Purchase Manager
  • Maintain project spending and forecasts against Budget
  • Lead Design Reviews with the design engineers/technicians and stakeholders of technology projects
  • Support Test & Commissioning of new systems with the Tech Ops team
  • Monitor Progress of the implementation of a project and estimate completion date of projects
  • Project Resource estimation
  • Work directly with vendors to research systems and design systems
  • Plan and schedule all milestones
  • Manage changes to project scope and develop contingency plans
  • Support the Implementation team with questions while systems are being built
  • Create and Maintain system documentation
  • Keep all stakeholders updated on project status and progress
  • Develop system proposals with the vendors
  • Track Equipment deliveries and manage Lot labor for delivery to the right location
  • Coordinate outage windows to ensure successful installation of new systems when needed
  • Coordinate Training as required with I.T., maintenance and Operations
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications/Requirements

    - Bachelor’s degree required (additional 5 years work experience in lieu of degree acceptable)
    - 2 or more years of successful experience designing and installing broadcast systems in 24/7 live on-air environments
    - 2 or more years of experience in Project Management
    - Experience with Project budgets and timelines
    - Knowledge of Broadcast and IT System design, installation and commissioning
    - Knowledge of core broadcast systems like router, multiviewer, reference, production switchers etc
    - Knowledge of network infrastructure, storage systems and virtual environments
    - Knowledge of IP networking skills
    - Ability to take responsibility and carry out assigned tasks with limited supervision
    - Ability to read and interpret construction documents such as elevation drawings, connection drawings, cable details and runlists
    - Ability to perform detailed work and being thorough in completing tasks
    - Demonstrated self-composure and high tolerance for stress and unquestionable integrity
    - Ability to work well with others and coach other engineers displaying a supportive attitude
    - Available to work overtime, weeknights and/or weekends
    - Work experience in a union environment preferred
    - Fluent in Smartsheet, Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook and other NBCU internal tools
    - Strong communication Skills

    Eligibility Requirements
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

    Desired Characteristics

  • Experience managing equipment used for production and broadcasting including but not limited to: Video switchers, audio mixers, graphics systems, automation systems, editing systems, video servers, media asset management solutions, archive system, transcoding systems, virtual machines and software applications for a major broadcast network or in a top 5 TV DMA
  • Experience leading a large diverse team of engineers, technicians and operators in a live TV environment
  • Experience successfully delivering large scale and time critical technical projects and initiatives
  • PMI, PMP Certification a plus
  • Cisco Certification or equivalent a plus
