Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

NBC4 is looking for a show producer to join our News department as the Platform Manager.

  • Responsible for the production of and overall editorial content for a newscast in addition to other assigned content platforms/shows produced by NBC4, including but not limited to broadcast, digital and web

  • Select the most compelling and relevant stories and provide vision and guidance for the Content Producers responsible for researching, writing, editing, producing and gathering the content

  • Works with the production team to ensure smooth and seamless show productions as well as with the editorial team to ensure the most complete and up-to-date local news coverage

  • Play an active role in the editorial process and advocate for their newscast

  • Responsible for writing, producing, desktop editing and gathering content for all platforms

  • Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience in newsgathering and/or production
  • Minimum 3 years experience writing and producing
  • Experience as a news producer in a top 25 market
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or equivalent work experience

  • Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to travel and work long hours and on weekends with short notice
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Significant experience in the news environment and strong journalistic skills
  • Experience working in the Los Angeles market preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile
  • Experience in multi-platform news environment preferred
  • Experience in desktop editing preferred
  • Ability to write, edit and produce under heavy deadline pressure without compromising accuracy or
  • credibility
  • Creatively deliver news as it develops on all current and future platforms
  • A pioneering spirit with desire learn emerging technologies and invent the future
