Position Description

Global Citizen is hiring a Global Video Director to create and execute a video strategy that supports growing the movement of Global Citizens as well as supports our campaigns to end extreme poverty. This position is a visual leader within the organization who has the ability to translate a person’s vision into a video suitable for our various audiences. The person should have their finger on the pulse of how video is consumed by Millennials and Gen Z, be excited to experiment with different formats, and always looking for creative solutions to visual communication needs.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, this person oversees a team of video managers and editors, both full-time and freelance, who are creating news videos for social media, campaign and event videos, as well as videos to be used in our festivals. This person will produce video shoots in far-flung places as well as locally, and will be able to make a suitable video studio out of a few blankets and some lights. This position works closely with a variety of stakeholders, including our policy, talent, and partnerships teams, as well as with the office of the CEO. Being able to manage many different projects at once, while prioritizing and communicating effectively, is an essential part of this job.

Position Responsibilities

  • Produce, film, and oversee video shoots from pre-production to post-production (Can include developing video treatments, shot lists, interview questions, and video scripts)
  • Manage a team of video creators at various experience levels to execute a video strategy focused on hitting KPI targets and supports core functions of policy, marketing, talent, and partnerships
  • Work with various stakeholders in the organization including the executive and senior leadership team members to create videos for various purposes
  • Responsible for hitting monthly metrics to satisfy KPIs
  • Partner with festival producer to create compelling videos to use at major events
  • Oversee creation of video assets for our corporate partners
  • With director of project management, oversee workflow of video team to ensure deadlines are met and quality videos are delivered
  • Partner with design team to bring a stunning visual identity to all of our video products
  • Recruit a team of freelance producers and editors to work with the team during busier times
  • Ability to travel and produce shoots in other countries, as well as flexibility on nights and weekends

Required Experience

  • 4 to 6 years in a senior position on a video team with a digital media company
  • 2 to 3 years of management experience
  • Mastery of all necessary video editing software (Adobe Premiere and After Effects)
  • Experience directing video shoots
  • Recruiting, on-boarding, and managing freelance video producers and editors
  • Proven experience creating and implementing a video strategy
  • Excellent English language skills for script writing and editing. Experience following an in-house style guide
  • Proven track record of working in a matrixed environment to achieve success
  • Experience with project management tools
