The HBO Director of Retail & Gift Cards will be responsible for managing and driving the HBO Gift Card category while also working closely with HBO retail vendor business partners. This position will report directly to the VP of Account Management.



  • Identify revenue opportunities and develop strategic account plans for retail and gift card clients

  • Secure commitment and support from key stakeholders at HBO, 3rd party integrators and retail

  • Proactively develop, implement, execute, and monitor business plans to drive revenue and maximize effectiveness of the retail space

  • Create and implement clear processes to track sales performance

  • Must have exceptional retail data analysis skills and comfort in analyzing data, identifying trends, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations to all levels of business

  • Establish cadence of meetings with retail partners and 3rdparty integrators

  • Create, foster, and maintain relationships across divisions within HBO and external business partners

  • Collaborate with HBO Product Management team on strategy, growth opportunities, industry trends, promotional opportunities, operations, and specific gift card plans

  • Provide support to the VP of Account Management as needed.

  • Run reports and provide analysis on revenue

  • Stay informed of the latest trends or shifts in the industry



  • A minimum of 10 years retail professional experience. Account management is a must.

  • Strong working knowledge of the gift card/ pre-paid space with established relationships within the industry

  • Proven track record of executing successful projects within the pre-paid/ Gift Card industry

  • Strong understanding of digital pre-paid market and key stakeholders

  • Excellent people management and persuasion skills with a proven ability to inspire and motivate internally and externally

  • Ability to work autonomously and hold meetings on their own

  • Must be willing to travel

  • Exceptionally strong Excel skills. Proficiency in Power Point and Word.

  • Detail oriented. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

  • Strong sense of ownership. Is accountable for both wins and opportunities.

  • Ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s Degree is a plus)
