POSITION OBJECTIVE: The PRSA Communications Department is responsible for all internal and external communication functions, and the positioning of PRSA with the media as the leading professional organization for the communications industry. The Communications Associate assists in the advancement of PRSA’s reputation and reinforcement of brand visibility through effective public relations plans and initiatives.

  • Provide editorial, social media, media relations and administrative support to Chief Communications Officer.
  • Conduct research to assist in the development of key messaging for PRSA communications programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or relevant field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in public relations or related communications experience at agency or in-house.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media, scheduling software and measurement tools.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills required.
  • Contribute to writing of press materials, media alerts and briefing documents.
  • Follow and analyze industry news and evaluate opportunities to promote PRSA.
  • Produce content for PRSA newsletters, website, digital assets and social media accounts. Create and maintain postings across variety of platforms.
  • Monitor and evaluate social media activity to help inform content strategy.
  • Proactively create and maintain media contact lists and editorial calendars.
  • Assist in the fulfillment of communications requests from across PRSA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or relevant field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in public relations or related communications experience at agency or in-house.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media, scheduling software and measurement tools.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects. Attention to detail a must.

Other Requirements: 

Some travel necessary, approximately 5%.
