POSITION OVERVIEW

The PR Manager oversees 5-7 clients, acting as the day-to-day lead, as well as the principal for the account team. This role is tasked with oversight of PR team activity and deliverables, directly influencing the strategy and overall direction of the account, proactively identifying media opportunities, managing progress towards deliverables and opportunities outlined in each client’s PR plan, and identifying client issues or potential areas of client dissatisfaction and escalating it with senior management, as appropriate. The role also includes managing junior team members and helping them to develop throughout their careers.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Account strategist and counselor:
  • Provide top-down direction and accountability for successful execution of teams’ deliverables in line with client expectations and business goals
  • Manage both client and team expectations with account SOW
  • Provide high-level counsel and strategy to clients
  • Account lead and executioner:
  • Oversight of review and approval process of all client deliverables with account team, including press releases, contributed content, pitches, call agendas, monthly and quarterly coverage reports, media bios, media briefing documents, award and speaker submissions, among other deliverables
  • Track progress towards meeting client deliverables, including updating and regularly managing the PR plan and managing account profitability/utilization
  • Work with junior team members to effectively run weekly and monthly client calls and meetings (in-person and via phone)
  • Spearhead and manage all facets of FiComm Discovery sessions, including messaging and PR plans
  • Lead team in proactive media outreach on behalf of clients, as well as identify opportunities for client commentary in breaking or developing news stories
  • Secure, coordinate, and manage media interviews; provide media training, as well as interview feedback to clients and handle any follow-up requests from reporters or clients
  • Provide counsel on ways clients can amplify media coverage and content on social media
  • Experience with designing research on behalf of clients, as well as analyzing results for media pitching
  • Coordinate with FiComm’s Marketing team on integrated accounts
  • Manage account teams, which are comprised of Communications Associates, Senior Associates, Consultants and Senior Consultants
  • Proactively raising potential client problems or challenges in a timely manner with senior management
  • Oversight of Salesforce entries, reports and accurately tracking billable and non-billable hours

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S./B.A. in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related fields
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of prior public relations experience
  • Experience with/interest in financial services preferred
  • Strong understanding of media landscape paired with robust media relationships
  • Exceptional verbal, writing, editing, research, and interpersonal skills
  • Hyper-organized professional with proven project management skills
  • A go-getter that thrives as a member of an entrepreneurial team and culture
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with knowledge of Salesforce, Meltwater and Cision’s suite of products preferred
  • Creative and energetic personality with start-up mentality that has the ability to work independently and within a team
