WSNS-TV, Telemundo Chicago, is looking for a highly creative and skilled promotion Writer/Producer/Editor who lives and breathes local news and wants to sell a great news brand! The ideal candidate is an exceptional promotions writer in Spanish language, who can expertly write, produce and edit on-air spots that sizzle. You will work with an award-winning Creative Services team that values expertise, passion and creativity. You must work well independently and as an integral part of a supportive team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the writing, producing and editing of daily news topicals for air.

  • Write and produce Investigative Special Report promos, POPs (Proof of Performance), and Image campaigns.

  • Be involved and participate in the creative teams’ responsibility for writing and producing PSAs, station sponsored sales and community events, advertising and promotions efforts.

  • Must produce compelling, targeted and research-driven promotions at all times.

  • Embrace the use of process language and sell our brand distinction in News topicals, Special Reports and image promotions.

  • Work with news and digital teams to grow cross platform synergy.

  • Assist in the production of long formatted shows as assigned.

  • Successfully manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.

  • Collaborate in duopoly projects for both stations WSNS and WMAQ.



  • Strong broadcast promotions creative skill set with proven examples
  • Deep knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects and knowledge of other programs such as Cinema 4D is a plus.
  • BS/BA degree in Journalism, TV Production, Marketing or other related broadcast field
  • Minimum 2 years of television experience writing and producing promotional content in Spanish language
  • Must be completely fluent in Spanish language – verbal, writing and reading
  • Must be available to work flexible hours and longer work days when necessary to meet high-volume demands and to meet tight deadlines.

  • Able to work efficiently while meeting continuous deadlines
  • Able to analyze current processes and help implement improvements for continuous operating growth and productivity
  • Experience working with After Affects, Photoshop, Dalet Galaxy are big plusses
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and able to interact with all levels of employees
  • Previous hands-on experience with a local TV news product showing creative writing and video editing skills
  • Experience in graphic design related to producing compelling and eye-catching promotions maximizing graphic elements in production
  • Superior organizational skills - able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Work independently or collaborate with a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn technical systems and any upgrades
