The Real Deal, an award-winning publication that covers the real estate industry in New York, Miami and Los Angeles and Chicago, is looking for an editor to join our team.

The candidate we're looking for will possess a sharp eye for news, knows how to turn a good story into a great story and works well under deadlines. We need a quick thinker with a flexible nature and impeccable organizational skills who will help bring our web and print coverage to the next level in multiple markets.

The Real Deal covers some of the biggest and most dynamic real estate markets in the world. The ideal candidate will have an interest in covering money and power and a keen sense of how the industry brings together elements of politics, business, technology, finance and law. The industry is a bloodspot, full of colorful characters and high-stakes deals. It's a rich hunting ground.

The job includes coming up with story ideas, assigning/working with reporters, and editing everything from breaking news on the web to sweeping magazine pieces. The editor should also take a lead brainstorming and managing multimedia such as video, audio, interactive maps, etc.

The editor needs to be a big picture thinker who can also execute the day-to-day duties necessary to keep multiple fast-paced newsrooms running at their full potential.

Hybrid reporter editors and adept reporters looking to transition into editing are welcome to apply. Knowledge of magazine production and a background in business journalism is a major plus.

The salary is competitive and is based on experience.

Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume and three clips to Managing Web Editor James Kleimann via the link provided.
