As Workflow Services Coordinator you will contribute to the Workflow Services department in providing a best in class, efficient and effective service to our stake holders.

 


You’ll be responsible for maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring that any new services are comparable (if not enhanced level) compared to our internal benchmarks of service, maintaining adherence to policy in conjunction with the Editors, and responding to internal queries.

 


Key performance indicators include rapid publication, sound peer-review practices, and high levels of service to Authors and Editors alike, ensuring the quality of published content remains high. You will be part of a growing team and playing an important role in the success of services in support of the workflows on the journals.


Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Work within the publishing team on the allocation of manuscripts to a variety of services deployed via the workflow services department – ensuring an appropriate service level is maintained.
  • Liaise with Editors to follow up on peer-review services and processes to ensure that turnaround time goals are met, e.g. by reminding them of deadlines and providing resources to help them source peer reviewers, and supporting them in resolving manuscript issues.
  • Work closely within the BMC Series Peer review team to ensure a smooth and joined-up manuscript journey and seamless author experience
  • Ensuring all queries regarding deployed and potential services are responded to promptly, answered adequately and escalated appropriately, to provide a high quality and efficient service.
    Identify recurring issues and work with the Workflow Services
  • Manager to provide solutions to minimise further queries.
    Assist in the creation, and maintenance of documentation that outlines the use & policies for all workflows and services for the Springer Nature Journals group.

 

 

  • Analyze training needs, provide training, evaluate, create and maintain training materials (manuals/videos) ensuring they’re stored as appropriate and remain easily accessible by those who need them.
    Monitor the process and use of instructions and templates by the
  • various editorial divisions to ensure that the correct processes are used and that the correct policy is followed by our partners in adopting the task.
  • Maintain quality control of instructions for all “products”, ensuring that the basic compliance criteria has been met and amendments are in line with our business policies. 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
    Ability to work to complete a specified and varied list of priorities with speed and accuracy, adhering to (often competing) deadlines
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere carefully to established procedures
  • Strong written communication skills, including accurate spelling and grammar
  • Capacity to make thoughtful decisions and use initiative
    A positive attitude in the workplace and a willingness to co-operate with colleague
  • Proficient computer skills (including MS Office, Outlook and internet browsers)
  • Self-starter with a positive, can-do approach to problem-solving
  • An interest in open access publishing and a sound knowledge / interest in science in general, knowledge of editorial process and related matters is desirable
