Handle all set decoration and dressing needs for productions, as assigned. Set decoration includes (but is not limited to) furniture, floor coverings, accessories, art, wall coverings, practical lighting, and drapery.
In collaboration with the Production Designer, Assistant Art Director and Producers, determine dressing and prop needs for the project.Source and acquire all set dressing items needed for projects. Coordinate with Art Lead on pick-ups and transport of items to set. After the production is wrapped, coordinate returns of rental items and storage of items that will be kept.Coordinate set decoration budget with Production Manager.Direct set dressers on install and placement of set décor on set.Cultivate and maintain business relationships with vendors.Keep informed of trends and help reinforce brand image for networks through design choices.Stay informed of our inventory and arrange/coordinate maintenance as needed.Other duties as assigned.
•Must be willing to join IATSE Local 800 Art Director’s Guild
•3-5 years art department experience
•3-5 years experience in set decoration
•Design background—through education and/or experience
•Working knowledge on a MAC of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
•Experience creating and maintaining a budget
•Ability to multi-task and prioritize
•Ability to stay organized and remain level-headed in a fast-paced production environment
•Leadership qualities—including ability to motivate and direct team
•Personable, approachable, team-player
•Solid communication and collaboration skills
•Photoshop skills a plus
•Able to work well under strict deadlines and shooting schedules.
