seeking an enterprising, hard-news local TV reporter. The perfect fit has Capitol Hill/government
reporting experience and an investigative background. We want an experienced,
passionate journalist with strong news judgement who can cover politics and
policy in a way that resonates with local viewers. The ideal candidate will
bring well-developed story ideas to each morning meeting. We are looking for a
journalist who can also turn compelling investigative reports. We
are all about news in Washington that impacts the markets we cover. Our team pursues original stories that our ten Cox TV
stations and six News/Talk radio stations won’t see or hear anywhere
else. If it’s on the network news, we don’t aim to repeat it.
Development of key sources like local lawmakers is crucial. Reporter must be
able to juggle multiple custom packages, active live shots, VO/SOTs and radio
hits each day. Candidate must be open to innovation
and new ways of reporting. The ability to host or anchor programs is a plus.
Qualifications:A minimum of five years TV reporting
experience and a college degree are required. No beginners. Excellent people skills required. Applicant
must be a team player in a small newsroom where employees wear a lot of hats.
