NBC4 Washington is looking for an expert social media producer to help engage and grow our audiences on multiple digital and broadcast platforms.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of internet culture, user behaviors and advanced social media strategies. We’re looking for a self-starter who is full of story ideas, every day, and who can work across multiple departments. You'll work with the digital team, within the broadcast newsroom environment, to break news on various distribution channels and help NBC4 maintain its position as the trusted and informative source of news in the greater Washington D.C. area.

Job Duties
  • Drive all aspects of NBC4 social media coverage; assist our sister station, Telemundo 44, with its social media strategy and coverage
  • Plan and execute social media strategies for various departments - including but not limited to digital, broadcast, marketing and community
  • Maintain focus during breaking news; keeping as many platforms as active as possible when the stakes are high and speed and accuracy matter most
  • Elevate our social media presence through innovative, creative and authentic posts
  • Work with on-air reporters, anchors and meteorologists to improve their social media skills
  • Ensure the voice, tone and mix of content fits with the overall editorial strategy
  • Evaluate, collect and distribute social media metrics, and develop best practices and action items from the data
  • Create and host events with our partners and local community
  • Other news production as needed


  • Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years working in a newsroom environment, including experience with breaking news and at least one year of dedicated social media experience
  • 2 years demonstrated experience with managing breaking news and publishing for an established news outlet
  • 2 years of experience in developing advanced social media strategies and utilizing various management tools
  • 2 years of experience working with all major social platforms
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

    Desired Qualifications
  • Strong news and headline writing skills; proficiency in AP writing style
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding communication skills
  • Organized with outstanding planning skills
  • Desire to work in a demanding, competitive and collaborative environment
  • Non-linear editing and live video production experience
  • Familiarity with emerging platforms
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
