The Associate Producer will work closely with producers to desktop edit, write and produce news content for all NBC 6 platforms. Additionally, the Associate Producer will work with the digital team to provide content for all our digital platforms.

Primary responsibilities include: Conceptualize and write news stories.Coordinate script and storyline with correct video sources and graphics. Log news and inform the producer of available material that can be used in their newscast. Write breaking-news under short deadline.Fill in as a line producer in certain situations.
  • Produce original content for the station’s digital, social media and OTT platforms
  • Work with the digital team, reporters, as well as producers, editors and content experts at the local TV station, to publish stories and digital content onto the website, mobile platforms and social platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience using Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and a passion for discovering the latest social tools.
  • Experience actively engaging the community and reporting through digital and social media.
  • Ensure the voice, tone and mix of content fits with the overall editorial strategy created by NBC Local Media.
  • Take direction from the local Digital Lead and Managing Editor, as well as senior editors at the national editorial center in New York, and collaborate with content centers in other local markets to share stories and resources across all NBC’s station digital platforms.

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum one year of experience writing, producing and editing (non-linear) on an electronic news producing system.
    • Must be a skilled writer with outstanding communication skills.
    • Experience video editing, videography.
    • Able to work a Flexible Schedule and Shifts, including weekends, evenings and overnights.
    • Must be willing to work at the station in the Miramar location.
    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
    • No relocation benefits available.
    • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
    • Strong news writing skills.
    • Ability to write, edit, produce and gather content under heavy deadline pressure, without compromising accuracy or credibility.
    • Able to work extended and flexible hours during hurricanes, emergency situations and breaking news.
    • Must be a skilled writer with outstanding communication skills.
    • Experience video editing.

    • Experience in a news environment.
    • Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile.
    • Working knowledge of digital media technology, particularly content-management tools.
    • Passion to develop and present story ideas.
    • Experience with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop preferred.
