Foreign desk video editor

The Washington Post is seeking an experienced video producer and editor to join our foreign video team. With more than 27 correspondents deployed outside the United States, The Washington Post illuminates what is most relevant, consequential and interesting in a rapidly changing world.
The ideal editor produces timely, accessible and original video covering international news of the day. The editor is an eager and strong collaborator who works creatively with assignment editors, photographers and graphics editors to produce visually driven stories. He or she coordinates the work of others around the world, including video from Post correspondents as well as freelancers. The successful candidate also is able to shoot interviews and reporter stand-ups and can contribute to coverage of international breaking news events by aggregating relevant clips, compiling sound bites and contextualizing events for a wide audience.
The ideal candidate has at least five years’ experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment, some experience covering international news, solid news judgment, familiarity with video acquisition and strong writing skills. The ability to edit quickly on Adobe products is also required. This job is based in our Washington newsroom and is not eligible for remote work.
