Allyson Conklin Public Relations (ACPR) is an eight-year-old Fort Collins, Colorado based boutique public relations agency specializing in beauty, home, and lifestyle brands. We’re hustlers, polished communicators, and forward thinkers who live and breathe creativity and strategy. We help indie brands get noticed by the likes of media including Vogue, MyDomaine, Refinery29, Apartment Therapy, Cosmopolitan, and Real Simple. We’re seeking a savvy professional to join our team as a Junior Publicist. This position will report directly to the Founder & Principal. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or another relevant area with a minimum of one year of post-graduate public relations experience, either at an agency or in-house. Ideal candidates will have experience with direct to consumer beauty, home, or lifestyle brands, solid media relationships, and an impressive track record of press hits.

This is a full time, salaried position that starts at $40K and includes benefits including: paid time off, paid company holidays, performance-based holiday bonus, new business bonus program, 50% health, dental and vision insurance, mobile phone stipend, fitness stipend, annual enrichment trip and conference, regular team building activities, and employee meals. 

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administrative: 

  • Support Founder & Principal with day-to-day requests
  • Achieve monthly objectives set by Founder & Principal
  • Update and maintain all company lists: media tracking, press coverage, monthly pitches, monthly focuses, etc. 
  • Compile, submit, and record daily press hit sweeps 
  • Contribute to the ACPR Blog
  • Assist Founder & Principal with monthly status reports
  • Suggest and participate in activities to grow company exposure
  • Identify and pitch new business opportunities 
  • Build and foster relationships with local PRSSA chapters 
  • Manage ACPR Shop initiatives

Client Relations: 

  • Develop strong relationships with clients 
  • Act as backup to Founder & Principal as point-of-contact for clients 
  • Facilitate phone and email interviews with clients
  • Attend in-person meetings with clients 

Media Relations:

  • Develop strong relationships with media
  • Assist in the creation of PR Plans 
  • Identify, pitch, and follow up with media 
  • Create and distribute high impact and creative media email blasts 
  • Rapid Response daily pitching 
  • Identify and pitch feature story opportunities
  • Identify and pitch HARO opportunities
  • Develop and manage ACPR’s Influencer Program 
  • Secure press hits: long lead, short lead, broadcast, and awards
  • Write press materials (fact sheets, bios, press releases, media alerts, pitch letters, etc.)
  • Identify other client exposure opportunities: sponsored posts, gifting, trade shows, and events 
  • Schedule media visits and desksides
  • Fulfill client product mailings
  • Manage editorial calendars and awards 
  • Attend in-person meetings with media 
  • Develop strong relationships with media

Social Media and Blog:

  • Management of ACPR and Eat Sleep Pitch Repeat social channels
  • Strategically write and schedule social content calendars on a weekly basis
  • Post daily social content 
  • Share client press hits on ACPR Facebook and ACPR Instagram
  • Grow ACPR and Eat Sleep Pitch Repeat social followers 
  • Moderate ACPR and Eat Sleep Pitch Repeat social communities 
  • Manage ACPR Blog content calendar
  • Write individual posts 
  • Assign posts: individual, collective, and regular series 
  • Edit and schedule all posts
  • Moderate ACPR Blog community 

Basic job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related area 
  • 1+ year of post-graduate public relations experience, either at an agency or in-house setting
  • Solid media relationships, and a commitment to expanding their network
  • Impressive book of earned media placements  
  • An understanding of the ins and outs of social media and blogging
  • Excellent communicator—verbal, written, and beyond—with a strong understanding of both the AP and creative writing styles
  • Strategic thinker with endless amounts of creativity 
  • Self-starter and multi-tasking master that’s highly organized, has the initiative to start and maintain projects, and is willing to go above and beyond the job description
  • Highly coachable, thrives on feedback, and subscribes to the “fail forward” mentality
  • Pop culture junkie and dedicated to staying in-the-know with what’s hot in the press and to consumers
  • Passionate about the beauty, home, and lifestyle categories 
  • Champion for indie brands 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Cision, InDesign, Canva, and WordPress
