The Content Manager is responsible managing a team of content producers and ensuring the production of high-quality, actionable and cutting-edge marketing and web content that elevates Temple’s reputation for a variety of platforms and audiences. Identifies, develops and implements strategies for improving workflow efficiencies and delivering work on deadline. Regularly communicates project updates to supervisor and project leadership. Creates compelling marketing content for web that integrates seamlessly with the university’s overall strategy and across platforms. Manages marketing platforms with a deep knowledge of Temple’s audiences, and actively works to improve engagement metrics. Collaborates with design, web and digital strategy colleagues to develop creative strategy and messaging and powerful materials that deliver strategic messages, align with strategic goals, and are user-oriented, valuable, usable, sharable, findable and measurable.

Essential Functions

Provides oversight of the content development process for the Web Collaboration Center by managing and tracking workflow processes and leading the development of one or more content producer.

Possesses a deep understanding of creating and delivering informational website content.

Collaborates with designers, strategists, marketers and developers to create, curate, update and manage content that’s strategic, user-friendly, valuable, usable, sharable, findable and measurable.

Ensures content producers write, edit and optimize clear, concise content in accordance with SEO strategy and best practices; on deadline; and in collaboration with the web and digital strategy teams.

Identifies and evaluates platforms, channels and outreach ideas to improve user experience, build audience engagement and better tell the Temple story.

Understands user behavior and needs and uses information to develop targeted content.

Creates content for new web pages and sites and refreshes, updates and creates content on existing properties in accordance with the university’s creative strategy.

Stays abreast of analytics and insights and uses that data to inform all work.

Stays up-to-date on web and content marketing trends and innovation.

Ensures that all web content follows style guidelines and works with developers to assess technical challenges.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field.

Minimum of 3 to 6 years of directly related experience, preferably with informational content for the web. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience managing direct reports preferred.

Proven success in guiding writers and editing professional web copy, with the ability to produce crisp, compelling, optimized copy while maintaining brand messaging, persuasiveness and readability.

Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-volume, collaborative team environment.

Emphasis on creating and documenting processes; making updates over time as projects evolve

Identifies, develops and implements strategies that result in workflow efficiencies

Demonstrated experience organizing and publishing web copy in content management systems (Drupal, WordPress).

Strong visual communicator.

Fluency in multimedia, digital content production and SEO best practices.

Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

Self-motivated with a can-do, problem-solving attitude.

Proven success in producing industry-leading creative campaigns.

Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

Experience using Google Drive, Photoshop, Excel, social media and analytics tools.

Deep understanding of user needs and behaviors.
