Do you have a proven track record of processing, producing and reporting a variety of foreign and domestic news topics with speed and accuracy? Are you passionate about journalism and working in expanding digital spaces? If the answer is yes, we want to meet you. We’re looking for an experienced Social Media Editor to join our team at NBC News Digital in Los Angeles.

You’ll work with the Head of Social and Senior Social Media Editors to break news, provide in-depth context to news from around the world, and help NBC News and MSNBC maintain their position as trusted and informative sources of news across multiple social media platforms.

Responsibilities include:
Help drive all aspects of NBC News and MSNBC social media coverage
The ability to run the NBC News and MSNBC hot seats; “keeping the trains on time” and accurate across our social channels
The ability to maintain focus during breaking news; keeping as many platforms as active as possible when the stakes are high and speed matters most
Comfort owning our weekend Instagram presence through creative posts, lives, stories
Evaluation of weekend evening workflow and priorities
Oversight of weekend social interns

Qualifications/Requirements :

Bachelor’s Degree

1+ years working in a newsroom environment, including experience with breaking news and dedicated social media experience

Must be willing to work in Los Angeles on Wednesday-to-Sunday evenings

Must have demonstrated experience with managing breaking news and publishing for an established news outlet

Must have the desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive environment.

Must be a skilled editor with outstanding communication skills.

Desired Characteristics :
Non-linear editing and live video production experience
