The World's First Business School



In 1881, American entrepreneur and industrialist Joseph Wharton established the world's first collegiate school of business at the University of Pennsylvania.


Wharton's pioneering vision was to produce graduates who would become 'pillars of the state, whether in private or in public life.' The Wharton School maintains a long tradition of educating visionary business leaders in academia, business, government, and not-for-profit organizations.


Today, Wharton has expanded the scope of this vision to become the most comprehensive source of business knowledge in the world - with over 225 faculty members, 95,000 alumni, 5,000 students across 10 academic departments, 20 research centers, and more than 9,000 executive education participants annually.



Reporting to Wharton's Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Senior Content Producer is responsible for creating digital content assets that advance marketing efforts and align with, promote and strengthen the Brand of the Wharton School. These assets include stories, blogs, graphics, web site content, landing pages, social, email, video, print, and other materials. The Senior Content Producer and his/her team members are responsible for implementing the School's content strategy and editorial and content standards which are based on industry best practices and Brand guidelines. Also develops and maintains strong, high level client relationships across the University and School and shares best practices in content creation across the School.


Work collaboratively across diverse groups at the School to develop an understanding of clients' objectives and strategy and create appropriately branded assets that achieve the clients' goals. Collaborate with internal Marketing and Communications staff to produce integrated best-in-class marketing solutions. Identify, oversee and manage the workflow of freelancers and student workers and ensure that projects are on track to meet deadlines and budget. Develop and drive accurate timelines for client work, reliably meeting deadlines and exceeding clients' expectations.


Serve as a content strategist, for example producing site maps and information architecture for new and existing web projects and objectives, story boards and script for video projects. Create, develop, and manage web content. Responsible for ongoing management of the content of the Wharton websites, promotional pages/microsites, and other digital assets. Responsible for ongoing updates, maintenance, and recommendations to improve user experience, SEO, and navigation across all Wharton digital properties.



Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Background in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field is preferred, along with 5+ years in digital marketing; 5-7 years' experience managing websites, coordinating web projects and email campaigns (agency experience helpful)


2-3 years' experience executing online media and search campaigns


Exceptional skills in writing and editing


Must be comfortable with and have knowledge of marketing analytics


Must be fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress, knowledgeable with marketing automation tools (ex. Salesforce, Pardot) and be comfortable learning an adapting new technologies and processes


Ability to think strategically through various channels


Experience with HTML coding and other CMS tools


Extensive knowledge of current interactive technologies and best practices


Computer experience (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, mobile apps, database experience) - Practical experience with various web metrics programs


Strong analytical and project management skills


Excellent verbal communications skills


Ability to work individually or lead a team project


Ability to manage time and budgeting resources effectively
