The Graphic Designer role will be responsible for assisting the company’s Chief Marketing Officer with marketing support, including but not limited to creation of marketing related materials and collateral in a variety of mediums including; web, print, brand creation, three dimensional design such as packaging and apparel, corporate advertising, social media, internal and external communication in various formats,  and general marketing duties as assigned by CMO from time to time. The employee in this role must be a creative, analytical thinker with the ability to appropriately shift priorities throughout the work day and on short notice, communicate effectively and efficiently with others, and produce a high volume of quality work within a dynamic and fast paced environment on tight deadlines. This person should practice extreme focus, meticulous attention to detail, organized and structured workflow, and have a flexible and adaptable style. This is a salaried, exempt, full-time position, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist CMO and marketing team with general marketing responsibilities
  • Create all designs layouts mockups and files for marketing projects as needed
  • Work on multiple different brands and aesthetics simultaneously
  • Create and develop designs for web, print, packaging, product design, promotions, social media, fonts, letterhead, business cards, newsletters, internal communications, newsletters, email blasts, marketing collateral, retail display, trade show materials, pitch decks, billboards, advertising, print/digital articles, promotional materials, powerpoint presentations, stationary, labeling, apparel, style guides, and consumer accessories
  • Create and develop social media and newsletter designs on a regular ongoing basis
  • Generate ideas and concepts for brands, marketing campaigns, product designs, and style guides
  • Maintain photo archive and provide relevant photos for projects as needed
  • Work with Marketing Manager on projects as outlined by CMO
  • Help create advertising, display, and promotional materials for a variety of mediums both digital and analog
  • Assist with product design and creating new brands
  • Balance legal compliance with design aesthetic

     

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

Education & Experience:

  • 8 - 10 years’ design experience with a Degree in graphic design or related fields
  • 10 Years experience without degree with demonstrated education, classes, or certificate program in design
  • Combination of freelance and corporate experience preferred
  • Experience working in the cannabis industry or a complex highly regulated industry a plus

     

 

Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in creative design, with a discerning eye for brand appropriateness
  • Proficiency and experience in product and packaging design
  • Prior experience in industry specific Corporate Advertising
  • Familiarity with photography and videography
  • Proficiency and experience in photo and video editing
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and integrate into work product
  • Familiarity with consumer buying trends and current market trends
  • Ability to stay on brand while simultaneously designing for several brands and styles
  • Design experience and familiarity with web, print, packaging, product design, promotions, social media, fonts, letterhead, business cards, newsletters, internal communications, newsletters, email blasts, marketing collateral, retail display, trade show materials, pitch decks, billboards, advertising, print/digital articles, promotional materials, powerpoint presentations, stationary, labeling, apparel, style guides, and consumer accessories
  • Able to work in a variety of mediums and create files for any need
  • Very strong proficiency in photoshop, illustrator and indesign
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier, Adobe XD, Sketch, Powerpoint, Google docs and slides, Excel, and Microsoft word
  • Familiarity with UI and UX for design layout and product packaging
  • Familiarity with corporate investor and/or shareholder reporting and collateral
  • Familiarity with vertically integrated companies including operations, distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, and retail within a highly regulated, complex industry   
  • Intuitive grasp of the impact of design on consumer buying habits
  • Interested in advanced technological solutions for marketing to consumers and for internal tools

     

 

Hours, Time Commitments, Location

  • Flexibility schedule with a definite willingness to work nights and weekends when needed for projects and deadlines
  • Must be located in the state of California and able to work from home office with a willingness to travel as needed to our offices in Salinas, Oakland, or LA
  • Must be familiar and comfortable with using technology for communication such as Skype, Zoom, and Google for video, screen sharing, and remote communication needs. 
  • Ability to manage one’s own schedule and priorities
