OVERVIEW – ROLE PURPOSE
The Director, Scripted Programming, NBCU International TV Studios, will be responsible for scripted content development with an emphasis on managing current production series for the NBCU International TV Studios creative group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the scripted development, current production and second window sales of the internal production companies at NBCU International TV Studios.
  • Ensure a consistent level of quality is achieved and maintained on all scripted creative fronts. Serve as a creative custodian/trouble-shooter/problem-solver on both current series and production, providing creative feedback and guidance, as needed.
  • Support the sale of International Studios produced shows from across the word into second window venues on the US Networks and SVOD platforms.
  • Leverage existing relationships at broadcast and cable networks, their parent companies, and emerging digital distribution platforms to help drive the pitch and program sales process.
  • Foster a culture of creative risk-taking and fiscal responsibility.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all internal stakeholders, as well as agency heads and high-level talent, to cement NBCU International TV Production as a desired destination for suppliers and talent.


  • Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum eight (7) years’ experience in television production and development with a proven track record of producing, developing, and selling scripted series.

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Previous international experience preferred.
  • Current programming and/or hands-on producing experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain extensive and productive relationships with cable network buyers, creative talent, production companies, and the agency community.
  • Start-up experience and/or the proven ability to actively grow a business is highly preferred.
  • Proven understanding of the entertainment production process, including production costs, timelines, and production cycles.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers, colleagues, and superiors, with a special emphasis on communicating creative goals and the value of intellectual properties to various constituents.
  • Proven success in wooing and managing talent.
  • Proven success in program sales.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel as needed.

    NBCUniversal International Studios is headed by Jeff Wachtel, President, with headquarters in London. The division’s mandate is to identify and collaborate with cutting edge creative talent around the world to produce high-quality scripted and unscripted drama, comedy, entertainment and factual entertainment programmes.

International Studios also co-owns LARK Productions in Canada, who produced the long-running procedural Motive and Real Housewives of Vancouver.

    International Studios also operate NBCUniversal Formats – a prolific global format sales division which represents the international rights to a broad slate of programming, including reality, lifestyle, entertainment and scripted shows produced by NBC, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, Style, Syfy, G4, Carnival, LARK, Matchbox, Monkey Kingdom and WTTV.
