KPTV-KPDX, a Meredith owned duopoly is recruiting for an Anchor/Reporter for a daily entertainment and lifestyle program. The Anchor/Reporter serves as host and reporter of a daily entertainment and lifestyle program. As host and reporter, the position will write, edit, produce segments and packages and conduct live studio interviews. Segments are sponsored and sold by KPTV-KPDX Sales department. Position works with Sales Team to achieve client goals. Conducts interviews both live and on-tape with local and national celebrity newsmakers. Helps to create locally originated content for broadcasts.

Essential Job Functions:

40% Serves as Segment Host of daily news, entertainment and lifestyle locally originated broadcast.

40% Write, edit and produce segments and packages. Conduct live shots and studio interviews, including long format interviews. Prepares and posts content to the station's broad digital platforms.

15%Collaborates with producers and writers to present show content based on the editorial philosophy of the station, the unique identity of the broadcast, and viewer interest. Work directly with KPTV sales and show clients to produce monetized segments. Develop strong client relationships, work with sales team to achieve client goals

5%Makes appearances and/or hosts civic, cultural or promotional events sponsored and/or aired by the station

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience:

Prefer two years or more experience as a reporter/anchor/host at a commercial broadcasting station.

Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring strict deadlines and a focus on team orientation.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have advanced knowledge of elements necessary to make a good show/newscast and strong understanding of television studio operations.

Must be a skilled communicator capable of speaking to a diverse audience and conveying messages effectively.

Ability to interpret information quickly and summarize into a clear, concise, relevant and understandable presentation.

Must possess strong listening skills for meaningful and interesting interviews with newsmakers.

Strong computer skills required; experience with Avid and MS Office strongly preferred.

Must possess strong written communication skills to effectively articulate details of the news and local events to the community.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
