The Associate Manager of Events Development & Marketing engages in championing cross-functional development and execution of Marketing & Sales plans for consumer-facing events such as Halloween Horror Nights, Lunar New Year, Celebrations, Fan Events, etc. at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Responsibilities

EVENT DEVELOPMENT
  • Assist in development of new and existing events that drive attendance and/or revenue including:
  • Evaluating Opportunities (Seasonal Events, Fan Events, Anniversaries, Celebrations)
  • Holistic conceptualizing of Guest Experiences (e.g., Entertainment, Food & Beverage and Retail)
  • Assessing viability of events (e.g., brand fit, scope, scalability, repeatability, ticket pricing, expected attendance and financial return)
  • Collaborating with internal cross-functional teams and IP partners for feasibility
  • Identifying key target audiences (e.g., demographic, psychographic, geographic)
  • Analyze both primary research (Guest Satisfaction and Point of Origin surveys, consumer concept testing, competitive benchmarking) and secondary research (market trend articles and publications) as part of evaluation process
  • Conduct comprehensive post mortem analyses to assist in the development of future events

  • INTEGRATED MARKETING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Lead marketing and sales tactics planning and execution to support communication phases
  • Develop strategic marketing roadmap to outline program goals, targeted consumer(s), communication strategy and key guest value proposition to initiate development of comprehensive Marketing & Sales Plan for each event
  • Collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams to develop new and innovative marketing ideas, identify key communication and sales channels, and develop effective marketing assets
  • Develop and manage project timelines, key milestones and dependencies to insure timely launch of programs
  • Compile and communicate program overviews and fact sheets to all impacted teams in the organization
  • Build detailed spreadsheets, calendars and presentations to help secure internal and external partner approvals for event content, marketing plans and creative assets
  • Partner with marketing creative team and channel owners to plan content that aligns with campaign strategies and drives engagement
  • Assist in the management of budgets and procurement of materials

  • SPECIAL PROJECTS
  • Assist in development of new initiatives that drive revenue or enhance guest experience (e.g., Halloween Horror Nights Mobile App, Dining Pass Program)
  • Track market trends and competitive activities to evaluate applicability to both Guest needs and business relevance
  • Assess existing capabilities and resource needs to develop project proposals with development and execution plans, along with projected financial impact
  • Attend Universal Studios Hollywood press events
  • Other duties as assigned


  • • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required; majors in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Economics or other related field preferred
    • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive, relevant consumer-facing marketing
    • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant leadership experience including supervisory and budget responsibilities
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with partner and foster cross-functional teamwork among Marketing & Sales, entertainment and operations
    • Be a subject matter expert and having detailed understanding of Marketing & Sales program

    • MBA or equivalent degree a plus, but not required
    • 3+ years in the consumer goods, entertainment, travel or theme park industry preferred
    • Ability to think beyond what has been done previously and assist and bring new ideation into the process and execution
    • Lead business plan development and present clear recommendations to management for approval and implementation
    • Motivate and work collaboratively with cross-functional peers
    • Ability to influence others at all organizational levels (from junior to executive levels)
    • Ability to think strategically and conceptually
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a large volume of complex work effectively and efficiently while being detailed orientated
    • Strong track record meeting targets and objectives
    • Strong planning and organizational skills
    • High energy and passion, with strong work ethic
    • Solid understanding of consumer and brand research
    • Digital and technical savvy, including experience working on social media initiatives
