Footwear News: Assistant Digital Editor

Footwear News is seeking a smart, dynamic and innovative Assistant Digital Editor to join the New York team.

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, write and produce 7 to 10 trending stories daily on a range of topics (fashion, retail, current events, business news, sports and pop culture) for Footwearnews.com
  • Pitch, write and produce 2 to 4 reported stories in the business beat
  • Respond quickly to breaking stories with fresh angles; write clean copy under tight deadlines
  • Digging through earnings reports and conference calls to unearth unique story ideas
  • Craft headlines that are insightful and engaging
  • Support FN’s social media efforts by writing and posting content
  • Represents the brand at industry events and appointments

Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years at a website
  • Must be organized and enthusiastic
  • Can-do attitude
  • Fast learner
  • Able to work well under pressure and in fast-paced environment
  • Excellent ability to prioritize throughout the day, according to news demands
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • The ability to juggle many projects at once, working both individually and as part of a team
  • A demonstrated understanding of digital strategy, Crowdtangle, Newswhip, Parse.ly, WordPress, Google analytics, SEO, Photoshop
  • Knows or willing to learn video and digital media editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, After Effects
