Based in New York and reporting to the Director of Web Strategy + eCommerce, this role will manage the most visible marketing channel HMH has – hmhco.com. The Website Product Manager will be responsible for prioritization and execution of the roadmap and tactical day-to-day product management for the website. They will also work with the Director of Web Strategy + eCommerce on setting the strategy, user experience, and KPI’s for our site based on priorities and high-level requirements from business stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Product Ownership
    • Drive day-to-day roadmap prioritization and sprint planning/grooming with IT Solution Delivery team

    • Effectively create user stories for IT by clearly articulating front-end requirements, authoring experience, and acceptance criteria in Jira

    • Perform User Acceptance Testing for ahead of release to ensure feature enhancements and bug fixes are being delivered to spec

    • Identify user needs, build mechanisms for gathering user feedback, understand pain points and uncover opportunities

  2. Strategy

    • Work closely with Director to manage the overall website as a product, including feature development, roadmap, and backlog of feature requests

    • Work closely with stakeholders across the company to align strategies, roadmaps, dependencies, and releases with business priorities for maximum impact

    • Use data and analytics to identify opportunities to improve user experience, service quality, efficiency, and effectiveness for the site

  3. Metrics & Business Performance

    • Help identify KPIs and metrics of success critical to evolving the website, and help drive the creation of effective and efficient internal reporting with Analytics team

    • Report updates on website performance, including traffic, viewership, search requests, etc; proactively identify opportunities to optimize and improve the site

    • Report to Marketing leadership regularly on site development to show progress toward and impact on projects or goals

Knowledge & Skills

  • Technical
    • Product Management: 3+ years required
    • B2B products: 3 years required
    • Agile experience
    • "Virtual" team experience (Experience working with team members in different locations)
    • Familiarity managing an on-site search application required
    • Familiarity with Enterprise-level systems architecture/integrations required
    • Familiarity with eCommerce functionality (PIM, content personalization, checkout) preferred
    • Product Owner Certification a plus
  • General
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills using various digital communication tools required
    • Strong technical background required
    • User-centric, goal-driven, evidence-driven 
    • Ability to "translate" technical ideas and concepts into terms a non-technical audience would understand
    • Experience working at a large (1000+ employees) company: 2+ years preferred
    • Experience working in various design, project management, and analytics tools like Adobe CC Suite, Sketch, Jira, Confluence, Workfront, Google Analytics preferred (the more, the better)
    • Experience working in various types of content/product management tools like CraftCMS, Wordpress, Hybris, Sitecore, Drupal, IBM WebSphere preferred (the more, the better)
