Happs Director/Technical Director - Freelance
Our livestreaming news network is growing! We’re looking to train-up several talented multi-tasking people with quick-reflexes and a keen eye to be freelance directors for our live experiential news streams. Live television experience is not required, but certainly welcomed. We’ve developed our own software video-graphics “switcher” for programming and compositing multi-camera live streams which runs on Mac computers! Because of this, you can skip the commute to Venice, California and direct from the comfort and luxury of your home studio (though our office space is pretty awesome also).
We’re particularly looking for candidates with regular freelance availability in 3-4hr. blocks, daytime hours Pacific Time. If you’re in Europe and have nights available, you’re in our Prime-Time! We are looking for nighttime coverage also, so candidates with high availability will be favored.
Directors manage all technical aspects of the broadcast, giving creative and technical direction to contributors in the field, around the world. (In the past six months, Happs has originated livestreams from the US, UK, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Thailand, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, Tanzania, Syria, Yemen, India, Phillippines, Mexico, Congo, Israel, Gaza, Laos, France, Russia, Pakistan, and numerous other countries.) Directors at Happs collaborate closely and work as a team with the Executive Producer of Happs livestreams, producers, software engineers, associate producers, social media managers, and a scrappy, tight-knit startup team. Our goal is to deliver our viewers a high-quality experience and help us build a following for our innovative product.
Compensation for the director role varies according to the length of the livestream, but typically ranges from $75-200 per stream. Happs will be producing at least two streams per weekday by the end of June, and ramping up to several every day by the end of the year.
