Freelance Writer for Video Essay Production Channel
We are now accepting applications for talented Freelance Writers to write video essay scripts on the following subjects: The Matrix, Dexter, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Big Bang Theory, Peaky Blinders, Buffy, Ozark, and How I Met Your Mother. We're looking for surprising, unexpected takes that can be backed up with solid evidence. You should be able to come up with a strong, original argument that takes a stance, and then to translate that argument into an accessible, entertaining style. It's key to be able to write for a speaker, to make thoughts flow naturally in a conversational voice, while also understanding how to pack a lot of substance in and create a tight structure for a video essay. You will work collaboratively with our senior editorial team to turn scripts around quickly. **PLEASE READ APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND EMAIL APPLICATIONS DIRECTLY TO US.**
To be considered, please submit one or more pitches for a video essay script on one of the subjects listed above, as well as a resume, brief cover letter and a writing sample that shows your ability to write analytically on film and TV (this can be a sample elaborating on one of your pitches, or an existing sample of past writing). We encourage you to watch the videos on our YouTube channel to get a sense of our voice before you submit your sample and pitch. **Please email applications to: firstname.lastname@example.org rather than submitting them through MediaBistro. WE WILL ONLY CONSIDER APPLICANTS WHO EMAIL US DIRECTLY WITH THE REQUIRED MATERIALS.**
