This position would be responsible for the shooting and editing still photography and video for COH and manage the internal and external digital asset management systems. This individual will capture high-quality, high-volume photography and video according to City of Hope brand standards. In conjunction with Executive Director of Creative Strategy and Planning, plans, organizes, coordinates, analyzes and reviews department tasks and responsibilities. This position will handle multiple photo and video projects at any given time. Functions as and performs the duties of Medical/Staff/Building/Events Photographer/Videographer daily. This individual should have a firm understanding of the creative process in a corporate or healthcare environment, and be well versed in various photographic techniques.  

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates scheduling and secures photography vendors for special events, tours, dinners, meetings, presentations and other events, when in-house team is booked.

  • Maintains professional growth and development and keeps abreast of latest trends in area of expertise.

Works with Executive Director, Creative Strategy and Planning and various City of Hope staff to plan photography and videography for events, photo shoots, etc.

  • Completes job duties within required time frame and prioritizes projects according to established schedules.

  • Maintains a helpful, friendly attitude.

  • Displays courtesy and professionalism in dealing with City of Hope employees and outside contacts.

  • Interacts effectively with other departments and other levels of management.

  • Portrays a positive image of department.

  • Serves as an efficient resource to employees.

Catalog video files. 

  • Maintain library.

  • Edit and cut video files as needed.

  • Create a filing system for retrieval and distribution.

Assists and/or coordinates photography needs for Medical Center tours, events, etc.

  • Completes job duties within required time frame and prioritizes projects according to established schedules.

  • Displays courtesy and professionalism in dealing with City of Hope employees and outside contacts.

  • Provide art direction during photo shoots.

  • Interacts effectively with other departments and other levels of management.

Establishes and maintains department files and records. Catalogs all digital negatives, proof sheets and photographs. Works on Extenis/Brand Connect/TaskRay Portfolio system to maintain a digital image library. 

  • Files material and records data accurately.

  • Files are kept current.

  • Ensures accuracy of external photographer’s contract information.

Inputs data and maintains database. Maintains database integrity.

  • Inputs data in a timely manner.

  • Reviews data for accuracy and completeness.

Has a thorough understanding of photography process, including expert knowledge of lighting and composition, and distributes materials to appropriate internal and external contacts as required.

  • Completes job duties within required time frame and prioritizes projects according to established schedules.

Utilizes digital SLR camera, Video cameras/audio accessories and light kits (including strobes, remotes and drones) to take photographs for City of Hope events, etc.

  • Reviews supplies inventory to maintain optimal stock without excessive inventory.

  • Demonstrates effective documentation and communication with all order processing.

  • Regularly reviews SLR & Video camera equipment to maintain functionality.

Ability to retouch/edit/catalog digital photographs and video on a computer.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Lightroom, required.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Bridge, required.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, required.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro required.

  • Knowledge of Final Cut preferred.

  • Knowledge of Extensis Portfolio, preferred. 

 

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:   

  • Bachelor’s degree or Photo/Video school completion, or equivalent work experience.

  • Five years of experience working with digital asset management systems. Proven eye for appropriate Art Direction and current trends in photography and videography.  Proven project management experience and managing others.  Proven experience using a digital camera and video camera/equipment, and using current software to edit photos and video. Proven experience working with video production and editing.

  • Good verbal communication and telephone skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Product photography and studio experience.

  • Experience with electronic photo cataloguing and imaging.

  • Expert use of digital SLR, strobes, various light kits, remotes, drones, audio and varied video camera/equipment.

  • Establish and maintain filing systems.

  • Input data into computer programs.

Required Courses/Training:

  • Accredited photo/video school training. Degree or certificate.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • Current California Driver’s License and a good driving record for insurance purposes.

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • MFA preferred.

  • Ten to Fifteen years.
