NBCUniversal has an opening for a Technical Associate position for MSNBC. This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced production / operation team that delivers live 24/7 news programming. The Technical Associate provides production operation support for multiple on-air production crew positions, as scheduled. This position includes, but is not limited to Steadicam and Utility.

Job Duties:

  • Work with Show Directors to deliver desired camera shots, including composition, framing and suggesting or demo-ing shots based upon production need and Director’s request
  • Operation of Steadicam
  • Work as Utility operator for Steadicam
  • Maintain technical quality within a fast paced, rapidly changing news environment
  • Work closely with Operations Management and Engineering to ensure all equipment meets production clients’ expectations
  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable company policies


  • Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in live studio television production in a fast-paced environment as a Steadicam operator
  • Experience with the Steadicams, utility and manual pedestal cameras
  • Overall understanding and knowledge of the television production process and broadcast operations
  • Communications/media field experience

  • Must be willing to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice
  • Must be available for breaking news coverage when required

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in related
  • Experience as a Steadicam operator
  • Experience with robotic cameras, pedestal cameras
  • Ability to think quickly, communicate well and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills and the ability to handle pressure in an on-air environment
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
