The Media Curator PEP works as part of the Media Operations team and is responsible for managing digital

files from acquisition to archive, and for transcoding to different formats based upon partner needs.

Job Duties

  • Operate Media Operations equipment and systems with a high degree of accuracy

  • Ingesting video and audio for storage into Media Asset Management system

  • Digitizing video and audio from original tape or disc sources for use in the edit rooms

  • Creating digital files for external and internal viewing of edited shows

  • Creating files for burning to disc based media (DVD, Blu-Ray, etc.)

  • Transcoding of files from and to various digital formats. (e.g., MXF to Quicktime, MPEG to MXF, ProRes

    to Flash, etc)

  • Maintaining archives of digital files for future use

  • Coordinating with clients concerning their encoding needs (determining how the footage will be viewed,

    determining the need for security protections, etc.)

  • Communicating with partners on the status of their requests

  • Working with file transfer systems like FTP and Media Shuttle to deliver and receive files to and from

    clients

  • Returning of materials to the Video Library

  • Working with Vantage and Root6 systems that help with automation and transcode operations

  • Consistently perform all the duties and functions of the role and maintain a positive attitude.



  • Basic Qualifications
  • Understanding of television and post production workflows
  • Must be proficient in Windows, MAC, AVID, Premiere and Microsoft Office Products
  • Understanding of digital video and audio formats (e.g., Quicktime, MPEG, AIFF, etc)
  • Understanding of content delivery platforms and how they use video (e.g. Flash, Quicktime, DVD,
    etc.)

    Desired Qualifications
  • Degree in Communications, Film or Computer Science
  • Understanding of FTP and the downloading and uploading process
  • Working knowledge of SD, HD and UHD formats
  • Working knowledge of Avid Interplay
  • Ability to read a Waveform/Vector Scope and Audio Meters
  • Working knowledge of Telestream Vantage and/or Root6 transcoding systems
