Content producers for ajc.com are responsible for content that drives audience growth above and beyond what our newsroom typically generates. Position reports to Content Curation Manager and is based in Atlanta. Occasional remote work will be considered.
JOB DUTIES:

  • 50 percent content aggregation, curation and creation
  • 50 percent social promotion both onsite and offsite to ensure content hits targets

JOB TASKS:

  • Monitors websites and wire services for content that will drive audience
  • Expected to publish a minimum of 10-50 items of content per day, depending on level of complexity
  • Takes simple photos or video and edits work in appropriate programs
  • Aggregates content from a variety of sources that align with the AJC.com voice
  • Writes annotations and headlines on aggregated content
  • Approves content aggregated by others
  • Writes original content as needed
  • Puts out calls for user generated content and aggregates/publishes content from that
  • Creates photo galleries and quizzes
  • Creates memes, GIFs from photographs and videos
  • Creates maps and simple interactives
  • Writes/rewrites web headlines for A/B testing
  • Researches/sources content from outside sources where needed
  • Manages, approves and edits/rewrites content from outside sources
  • Socially promotes content to ensure content hits audience targets

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, social media or related media field
  • 1-3 years of experience creating content for a business-to-consumer website
  • Established social media presence on various platforms. Interest particularly in Twitter, Facebook, lnstagram, Pinterest, Reddit, Vine, Google+. (Candidates should supply handles for verification.)
  • Previous editorial experience at a newspaper, television or radio station required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong writing and editorial skills
  • Experience evaluating site metrics using various web analytics tools, including, but not limited to, Google Analytics and Chartbeat
  • Knowledge of HTML and Methode or other content management systems a plus
