John Brown Media, one of the leading content marketing agencies with U.S. headquarters in Boston, is opening an office in San Francisco. We are seeking a creative and collaborative senior-level content strategist to oversee the editorial vision and tone of voice of an omnichannel marketing program with a large direct mail component for our newest account, Sam's Club. This person is well-versed in all things lifestyle—from food and style to home, outdoor, and tech—and has experience working in both print and digital as well as editorial and catalog projects.


-Working closely with the client, oversee the conceptualization and execution of a robust direct mail program, translating marketing initiatives and product lists into compelling creative concepts, ensuring that concepts work not just for print but can translate seamlessly into omnichannel use

-Establish tone of voice for headlines, copy, and captions, ensuring this tone extends across all channels

-Create regular content lineups for client approval, then execute these lineups into finished product, working with copywriters, art directors, and designers

-Report and write original editorial pieces—a mix of lifestyle entertaining stories, Q&As, and short lifestyle service pieces

-Ensure that all caption and technical copy is accurate and maps to marketing messaging requirements

-Work with art director to ensure that all content is delivered on time and on budget


-Skilled at writing snappy, voicey headlines and display copy

-Experience working in editorial media

-Experience reporting and editing original content

-Experience in copywriting and writing for marketing purposes

-Experience working directly with clients

-Experience managing direct reports and collaborating cross-departmentally

-Experience working in a range of lifestyle categories, from home and style to food, outdoor, and tech

-Ability to travel by plane regularly to client’s corporate headquarters
