The Marketing Associate is part of a small marketing team that works interdepartmentally to support all aspects of marketing Wave Hill, including horticulture and programs in education and the arts. S/he is responsible for developing content marketing strategy across social media channels, monitoring press coverage, composing and distributing press releases and taking photographs and video of the garden and multiple programs. Facility with various software programs, media platforms, and apps is key to this position's responsibilities. S/he will participate in professional development opportunities, such as a two-day Digital Marketing Bootcamp for arts marketers in the fall.

Responsibilities:

Social Media:

  • Create and manage content for all social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube
  • Work interdepartmentally to generate content for social media and other marketing efforts
  • Develop schedule for, and implement, social media advertising campaigns
  • Monitor social media on a daily basis, and engage with followers on behalf of the brand
  • Analyze social media performance
  • Stay abreast of social media trends and developments

Press:

  • Research press leads and draft and distribute press releases via Meltwater
  • Monitor and archive press mentions for website and board meetings
  • Compose regular email updates to press on upcoming events
  • Post Wave Hill events to external event calendars
  • Organize press previews and manage subsequent press requests

Photography/Videography:

  • Actively photograph and video the gardens and programs throughout the seasons, for use on all marketing channels
  • Produce in-house videos and manage filming, editing and archiving of footage

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field
  • Two years’ marketing experience managing social media for a cultural organization
  • Creativity and initiative in managing solo projects; ability to multitask
  • Solid writing and copy-editing skills
  • Ability to be a team player and contribute to a collaborative environment
  • Facility with and knowledge of social media platforms—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube
  • Excellent computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Google Drive
  • Nature and candid photography skills with a DSLR camera
  • Experience video editing and handling photography/videography equipment
  • Familiarity with Meltwater, Cisionpoint or other public relations tools
  • Knowledge of Basecamp or other project management tools
  • Familiarity with Altru or other donor database systems, preferred
  • CMS/website experience, a plus
  • Flexible schedule, with some weekend and event attendance

Salary:

  • $33,000 for 35-hour workweek; excellent benefits package
